My chihuahua was sick and I had recently moved to the area. VCA Seaside saw my little buddy that same day. Unfortunately, he had to be put to sleep. I was so upset and not expecting to hear that. Ann Marie and Dr. Coulthurst explained to me my options and answered all of my questions. They were very compassionate and caring. They allowed me time to process the information and say good bye to my buddy of 15 years. As much as I miss him, I know he is not suffering and was laid to rest peacefully by my side.

I wish I could leave no stars. Please be aware of the nurse nicki, and the doctor Amy. I brought my 4 yr old pit in for some complications if walking on her back legs. I have been bringing my baby and my other two older dogs to this vet for yrs. At first I thought it was amazing. Well unfortunately I experienced the most horrible thing a pet owner could go through. This place told me that my baby girl needed knee surgery on both back legs. They put her on rovera which gave her a BAD uti. I was calling on a weekly basis bc my baby girl seemed like she was getting worse. Finally 2 weeks later the nurse Niki calls and says we can pick up some pain meds of gadapitin. So we did that. From that day on iI was calling daily bc my baby girl was getting worse. All they kept telling me was it's the pain meds and that she needed the surgery. So I called for the 15th time and got a call back that they was setting up surgery
Which they still gave me no price. I finally got a hold of a nurse and she advised me it would be 5,000 per knee. So I explained that I would need a little time so I could start a go fund Me page for her,and call around for donations. 2 weeks later. My baby girl could not lift her front legs at all. The vet advised me to put a towel under her belly to keep her moving. Which I did. They kept telling me this was no death wish for my dog. 5 weeks later My husband called the doctor and left a message for the 6th time around 10am. We didn't get a call back till 6 pm that night. She then informed us that the x-rays showed no signs of torn acls. So she advised us to bring her I. The next day ASAP. That was on a Wednesday. Thursday night 20 min till they close, after speaking with them all day and how they was telling me they will help bc she is totally paralyzed and they couldn't explain why. Well we had to come get her Thursday night just to turn around less than 10 hrs to put her down. I have left out a lot of other stuff, but hopefully this will save another pet. DO NOT TRUST THESE LADIES. I am heart broken forever. 4 yrs was not long enough for my baby girl. Specially since they told me for a freaking month this WASNT a death wish.

I wish I could give them 0 stars. I had the most traumatic experience here & I hope I can prevent others from having the same or similar experience.
Went to them because my dog had a horrible cough - the first visit was OK - but still not great. Dr. C was extremely judgmental, met this dog for the first time ever, asked me if I care for his ears (literally not the reason we were even there for) and I said yes, of course, I clean them as needed. She passive aggressively brought me an envelope with sheets inside and as she's walking out the door & said "hopefully this will help you learn to clean his ears".
There was NOTHING wrong with his ears & not even the reason we were there for the visit.
She was very passive aggressive, anytime I asked a question she was very rude and basically was rolling her eyes at me.
It wasn't a great experience all together. She went to every extreme you can think of, tumors, cancer, dying - everything.
We get our medicine and on our way - 2 weeks later, we finish up the meds & he isn't any better. We go back for a follow up. She says we need to do x-rays because he probably has a tumor. I do the extremely expensive x-rays.
The vet comes back in (mind you, I have my 3 kids with me) and with no warning, shows me the x-rays and just plain as day in front of my kids says "your dog has cancer" I am stunned in silence. She then goes on to say "he has an enlarged and misshaped heart, an enlarged liver & spleen and his spine is crushing down on him, I am surprised he can walk, if we don't take care of this, he'll never walk again"
All of this information, I am literally stunned and in such a panic that he has this much wrong with him and so suddenly.
Radiologist reviews his x-rays and calls the next day and what do you know.... he doesn't have cancer, nothing is wrong with literally any of his organs or his spine...... so I was in tears for 24 hours straight panicking that I am going to have to put our beloved family dog down.
A month later, I have gone to another vet to get a second opinion, because hers clearly can't be trusted, and she reviewed everything and is very confident in saying he doesn't have cancer and none of those things wrong and treating him with new meds.
Please do yourself a favor and stay away from Dr. C. I can't speak about any of the other doctors, but the other staff was very friendly, but this experience with Dr. C was extremely traumatic and hurtful & cost me A LOT of money to tell me absolutely nothing.

I have always been a fan of Seaside Animal Hospital for the last 18yrs. We recently were involved in a very serious accident on Hwy 130 during Hurricane Debbie. One of our pets was hurt and Seaside stepped in to provide immediate care. Dr. McCalla was very empathetic to the situation as we still had one dog missing from the accident and needed to remain close to the area to find her. Dr McCalla took our Lillie and stitched her up so we could keep looking for our missing retriever (Willow) After 3 days of searching to include Dr. McCalla coming out to the accident site to help search we were able to rescue our retriever and bring Willow home. 13hrs later the entire location was under 3.5ft of water which probably would have had a different outcome.

We are HUGE fans of Dr McCalla and everything she and her staff did for us to bring everyone home. Thanks for everything and being the best veterinarian we know!!!! Kurt & Kristi

UPDATE.... So my first visit was amazing with dr. colleran. however she is no longer there. Dvm. Sigrid coulthurst is now the vet. I came in explained to this doctor that my dog was in so much pain that she couldn't walk on her back legs. I was carrying her around to be able to use the bathroom and reach the water bowl and the food bowl etc. she completely disregarded my concerns and my dogs health and told me to give her glucosamine and sent her home in pain. After watching my dog suffer for 3 more days I came back to the vca seaside animal hospital to speak to someone about my dog and issues with the vet and Hannah was there, and Hannah is amazing Hannah made me feel heard addressed the issue and gave me medicine to help my dog feel better. I would not recommend anyone bring their dog to this vet she is a very tunnel vision veterinarian she does not listen to concerns she has her own mindset and completely disregards anything around her. This is completely unacceptable to me and honestly if it wasn't for Hannah I would have been finding my dog a new vet.

Dr. Colleran was amazing with layla would recommend to anyone

Called the VCA animal hospital 12/5/24 in a panic my fur baby was limping, and holding his paw up.I frantically called VCA Calabash, since we are new to area and it was close. WOW…incredibly rude employee answered phone,no compassion for my situation, stated they are NOT taking on new patients, and I should go to Myrtle Beach for help.
We have experienced nothing but hospitality and kindness since moving here from S.Florida, where rude and self serving is common and expected, never thought I would experience this in our wonderful community .”Bad day”maybe, but first impression, whew not my kind of place even if you were taking on patients, hope you have enough to keep you busy for the long run because with that kind of phone manner,a class in professionalism would benefit.

They took amazing care of Casper and even squeezed him in because of something going on with him that was out of the ordinary. They are extremely nice in there and even though they were busy they made sure to take the time to make sure all of my questions and concerns were answered! I couldn’t recommend them more:)
