I went to Michelsen law offices in Racine, WI in September 2024 to start my bankruptcy process. My experience there was very positive. The lawyers were knowledgeable and helpful in this process. Carrie was who worked with me through most of the process and I highly recommend Michelsen Law offices if you are in the unfortunate position of needing to file bankruptcy. Although I was able to pay in full for services during the first meeting, paying as you go was an option. Using a co-signer etc. was an option if necessary. I think I had to meet with them at the law office a total of 3 times in order to finish everything so it wasn't overly extensive to get this done. Also, when my bankruptcy was officially discharged, you have to file your discharge paperwork and schedule lines with the state court because your bankruptcy will only be filed in federal court. You have to request papers from the court house in your county to file in state court and the lawyers at Michelsen Law offices assisted me in filling those out as well. Very helpful through this process. I just got my documents back (3/18/25) from state court stating they recognize the discharge of my bankruptcy on the state level as well. So the whole process took about 6 months from start to finish. It probably would have been 4 to 4.5 months if I had filed in state court right away, but I waited 1.5-2 months before filing with state court once I got the discharge paperwork from federal court.

Nobody wants to claim bankruptcy, but if you need to this is the firm to help you. Made me feel comfortable and kept me informed through the entire process. Top notch service from start to finish!

I highly recommend Michelson Law Firm! Carrie is very caring and doesn't treat you just like another client. She understands that the unexpected happens, and treats you as such. That to me says allot about whom she is. She's an excellent attorney who cares, and makes you feel like she's in this process along side you all the way through. There is no pass off to someone else to take the case, shes with you all the way. Most importantly after all is said and done, she wants you to be financial healthy, but again understands things happen to good people.
