Filed for VA compensation almost a year ago in May after a month I got out of active duty regular Army of 8 years and some change. Talked to an Asian VSO rep thought he was cool I guess till now. It’s been almost a year now and no appointments have been scheduled for me. I’ve checked back and forth with them. Called and said I would get a call back directly from him per his voicemail box. Never did. Files for multiple claims of wear and tear in the army. How is it buddies I know can get their ratings and appointments scheduled within a few months maybe weeks. But here it’s been almost a year and not even a glimmer of hope is here. I’ve been on Step 3 of 8 since may 2024. Honestly don’t use this VSO office for anything really. Probably just go here for free food / coffee and donuts every now and then and talk to the older folks and veterans. The VSO reps are a joke here and no help at all.

I am still trying to figure out what these people do. They literally just faxed my paperwork. I was never contacted again. Five months later I received my decision and even 3 months after that they still did not reach out or follow up. I really should have just done it myself and saved my gas driving to their office. Two thumbs down!

This office is a joke. They have never helped in any way shape or form. They assisted my druggie ex-wife and getting partial payments out of my retirement pay because she stated I wasn’t paying child support. I have 100% custody of my kids and when I went there to try to scan in documents that the VA needed I was turned away they’re unprofessional attitude and unwillingness to help the common veteran problems is absolutely unacceptable. this office should be looked into, and I believe many people in that place do not deserve to be serving veterans, especially the counselor that assisted me who never called me back in which his quotes are always I always call everybody back. I had to go out and reach out to a company and pay to help me get my rating adjusted even after going to this office to get help.

I called for advice on behalf of my dad, a veteran only just recently tapping into some of the benefits he’s eligible for. I can confirm all of the bad reviews. I just spoke to the rudest person. I just needed a simple question answered and you would have thought I was asking for money out of their bank account. I’m beside myself at the unwillingness to help let alone the fact that this person is employed (payed) to serve veterans. I hope this office’s management reads the comments here and acts accordingly. I give one star for answering the call, but really the person I spoke with should have stayed home today.

Unacceptable. The most unpleasant and unprofessional experience. Treated me like I was there for their convenience to have a job, like I was still licking boots in the military. Even allowed a non employee to get confrontational with a threatening manner. Very uncomfortable environment. They act like they’re the government and you serve them. They don’t help you with anything unless you fill out a DMV Intake form with all of your confidential information before they even try to help. Apparently Red Flag Laws don’t apply to their process. Told me they don’t help with my forms but the brochure says they do. Then tried to tell me my forms were wrong and out dated after I just received them from my VA counselor with an expiration date of 11/2024 located right next to the OMB number. I received no help, they even recommended other VSOs because I questioned them regarding their process and treatment towards me. My impression is they’re only there for a cushy office job and pay check and need veterans to provide them purpose to justify the funding they receive which keeps them employed.

This is simply word-of-mouth, but this place is getting a really bad reputation. Not sure what’s going on here, but I need some help and I am hoping that I can get it.

After reading the reviews below, I’m a little nervous about asking for help.

If I can’t come here for help, are there any suggestions for where I can go to get valid and professional help with compassion and kindness?

I had a few questions about documents for my school. Every time I have a question, I always have a wonderful experience speaking with a caring person. Susanna Espinoza answered my question when I called today. Very disrespectful to me, spoke to me as if I was stupid, then hung up on me mid-sentence.
She shouldn’t be answering the phone to anyone that way let alone veterans who deserve the respect.

My first time here for something simple, paperwork for the DMV so I can have Veteran stamped on my license. The reception asks if I have been here before to which I reply, "I have not." She has me fill out my information which I turn in. An hour later I am waiting although I'm not sure what for as the receptionist didn't give me a clue as to the process. I can't think of a place where you'd walk in and fill out paperwork and not be told what is next. Customer service is surely not a priority here. There was coffee donated by the Modesto Vet Center RC Flying club which was good so they get the x2 stars.
