Shasta Anesthesia Consultants (SAC) ARE NOT a member of the Blue Cross provider Network (BCPN). As of 8/2016, they were not able to re-negotiate their BCPN contract, and canceled their membership. Accordingly, they DO NOT conform to BC's fee limitations. They can charge you whatever they please. Also, make sure you get their fee in writing BEFORE you use their services. On 7/1/2016 I made the mistake of getting this information verbally from SAC, and was told they would charge $600 for their services. WRONG. They billed $1080.

Calling SAC will be a frustrating experience for you. You will be put on hold, redirected to the wrong people, and end up being told to leave a message. Your messages will not be returned. It took me 7 calls over a week just to get someone to tell me what SAC will charge me, and that turned out to be false.

So, get your charges in writing BEFORE you engage their services!!

UPDATE, 10/3/16: SAC signed for a Certified Return Receipt letter from me 2 months ago disputing their $1080 fee and giving them the name and extension number of their manager who quoted me a $600.00 fee for their services. They ignored me and my letter, and today sent me a demand notice, threatening to put me in collections if I don't pay the $1080. DO NOT use SAC without a written letter from them telling you EXACTLY what your cost will be. Don't let them fool you with an 'estimate' either...that means nothing. Get a written quotation of EXACTLY how much you will be charged before you engage their services.

Boycott this place if you have any chance! I had 3 planned surgeries last year and on the last one I got a "surprise bill" for $2700. from this group of manipulators. They were "in network" for 2 of my surgeries but not the 3rd one. No one from this sleazy outfit thought I needed to know that. Thanks to Ca. Assembly Bill 72 this won't happen to anyone else. Shame on you Shasta Anesthesia Consultants! Do the right thing even when no one is looking and we wouldn't have to make laws to force people to do the right thing. If you're suing to try to reverse the law, then you're even worse. If you're not a part of the solution then you are the problem.

I had knee surgery in August 2016. I was told at the hospital that Shasta Anethesia Consultants was in network with my insurance company. After the surgery I got a form letter from them stating that they are not in network and that they will courtesy bill my insurance. They billed my insurance for 150% of what a different anasthesia service billed for the same thing the prior year. All efforts at communication with this company to try to resolve their exorbitant charges have been met with no response. I will be sure to never use them again. Public beware of their less than honest business practices!

Similar to other comments made. Deceptive, unethical and in our case Mercy didn't bother to tell us that SAC didn't accept BC. This is why Brown signed Bill AB 72, to protect against greedy unethical medical practices.

My surgery was cancelled 3 days ago. He left several messages for them to call me back because they need to reimburse my $600.00 dollars. Bad Custer service

these people will not call you back, they don't acknowledge receipt of your correspondence, they only want to turn you into collections. it is futile to try to communicate with them
