This was a disaster. Seal Tax Service was recommended to me, so I decided to give them a try. This was our experience:
My wife and I met in with Ricky in November 2021 to pave the way for a smooth tax process this year.
We followed directions in February to upload our tax documents to a secure file share and then wrote to Seal Tax Service on Feb. 27 to say the items had been uploaded and to let us know if they needed anything else from us.
Apparently, the technology was not working or they ignored the message. Either way, we did what we were supposed to do, but there was no communication on the part of Seal Tax Service.
The business tax deadline came and went in March without us hearing anything from Seal Tax Service.
On April 14, panicked that we had not heard from Seal Tax Service with the tax deadline looming, we contacted them. Again.
The response we got was, "Please provide date and email address your documents were sent to.” We didn't send them to an email address. We sent them, as instructed, via the secure file sharing system.
As it turns out, they didn't have the documents and we had to send them unsecured, via email—a method I’ve never done with a tax firm and a very dangerous practice.
Obviously, an extension had to be filed despite the fact that our tax information was submitted to Seal Tax Service some seven weeks earlier.
Finally, we got to June, and once again, we’d had zero communication from Seal Tax Service, so we were forced to contact them again to find out the status of our taxes.
That prompted them, apparently, to actually do the work we expected 4 months prior. The taxes finally got filed in June and we received an invoice for more than $1,000. The next day, we received the invoice again saying payment was late. Now that's ironic. It takes 4 months and missed deadlines with no communication to do our taxes, yet they want our payment in one day and are happy to now communicate that?
