Visited the Sonoma Permit office today. The woman at the front desk was very friendly and helped us right away! We did not have an appointment, and waited less than 5 minutes to be greeted by Jake. He was also very friendly, and helped us complete required forms, scans, and explained future requirements. A surprisingly 100% positive experience in a governmental administrative office! So refreshing in this now self service/ impersonal world of ours to still experience excellence in customer service! Thank you Jake!

I don’t know who that white POS that was at my farm today who entered it without my permission or acknowledgment. And when I yelled out who are you he copped an attitude and said I’m the inspector and I have the right to be on your property. And I said well you didn’t notify me you were coming he said I called your contractor. Oh the company I’m going after when they’re finally are done screwing around on my roof?
So then this white male about 40 to 50 years fat tells me well I was going to sign off on the final but now I’m not you came at me aggressively and yelled at me.
I told him he was on my private property and nobody told me he was coming. He said I’m done with you I have 20 more calls to make and I said and my permit No permit final It’s not done because of that back room.
Like all Sonoma County employees now I guess he’s pissed because he has to work in the office two days a week. Which means he actually has to work. I don’t know what Modern Method Roofing connection is to you or what kick back that you’re getting back But like I told little Jimmy from modern method roofing whose very sensitive like you we’re not done yet.
So the final warning don’t make the little man from the County cry.
I’ll be calling a supervisor and if I have to pay for a third party to inspect this roof I will.
By the way I think it’s nice you’re treat a disabled senior woman it really shows what kind of man you are. Lol

these incompetent hacks do not return phone calls, they do not return emails, they do not answer the phone. they fail to honor their implied contract to provide services to the tax paying public in a reasonable manner. which means that public funds are obviously being misappropriated. disgusting and unacceptable.

Lady answering the calls at the front is rude and seems to just forward your calls to another dept. Trying to call back but now no one is answering. It seems like having good customer service now and days is too much to ask for. Dislike the fact that people working for the city or county feel so entitled.

I’m editing my review from 1 star to 3 now that they’ve adapted the SoCo Report app it appears they’ve entered the 21 century. I had to report a known violation and illegal dwelling and they responded in minutes! I have an appointment with an inspector Nathan Peacock next week. Great job! If all goes well I will edit again and comment.

I’ve been going to the Sonoma county building department for some years now and every time I leave, I’m either stressed out or angry beyond belief. This place is an absolute mess. Get it together hire staff or better yet staff who actually know what they’re talking about. All we are trying to do is build homes in Sonoma County for people that need them and this department makes it so incredibly stressful it’s beyond belief.
