I found OC Financial Services online and made an appointment with Irene to review my tax return, estimated payments, and ask a few other questions in regards to my small business. She was professional, kind, and easy to communicate with. I'm very grateful for her help and look forward to working with her more in the future!

I very rarely take the time to make a review but I felt this was warranted under the circumstances. First off, I am, correction was, not a new customer I have been going here for the past 5 years and each time felt comfortably and taken care of, I did notice over time that they were steadily getting busier over the years; appointments slipping 5, 10, 15 minutes, etc, as well as prices going up, which I didn't mind since they are walking distance from my house.
All this changed this year, in actuality 21 minutes ago (from the start of my typing) this happened...
I walked in 15 minutes early, I was raised: early is on time, on time is late, and late is rude, so I was there "on time" ready to wait anyway. When I announced my appointment time when asked the two other people waiting laughed out loud, apparently they either double booked or were running grossly late. I should also take a moment to mention I was texted by them 2 hours before to confirm my appointment, which I did confirm. The owner, whom I had an appointment with came out at 5:30 and called the name of one of the previously waiting people inside her office and when recognizing me she said she would be with me right away, and after settling the other customer had me join her at a desk outside the office. Not a fan of having my taxes done in view of others but OK lets get this done. I sat down and said this year is a bit more complex since I had solar installed. She immediately sat back and became, gave a disheveled look and became slightly aggressive, uncharacteristic of her from my experience; she asked how come I am only telling her this now. Confused, I said I have an appointment to get my taxes done, regardless of its complexity. She then becomes, IMHO, passive aggressive, again never saw this side of her, telling me she can only give me an hour and she does not want to rush and wants to do it right but she can't make everyone else wait because my taxes are going to take an hour just for the solar calculations. What she didn't know is that I already had the 5695 form completed and ready for her but stayed quiet because what was unfolding gave me a bad feeling.; noticing the situation was deteriorating, I decided to ask if we should reschedule; to which she responded, I can give you an hour but that is all or you can leave your documents with me and I can get it done right. I asked does she make it a policy to only allow the minimal amount of time being 1 hour for her clients to do their taxes and if so wouldn't it be prudent to have her staff ask when making appointments to ask whether they have "complex" taxes or not? To which she would not answer, instead she started to use passive aggressive language again. She said she doesn't want to get into an argument and we don't need to raise our voices (no voices were raised) and she would rather lose a client then make enemies (whatever that means). She then asked me if it was fair for her to take extra time with me and make her other clients wait for me to finish. Wow, just wow.
It is not my problem you cannot schedule your business properly. I was again asked if I want to use the hour and then leave my paperwork, to which I refused and regretfully left.
Moral of the story here, if you want a "local" mom and pop shop to process your 1040EZ go here since you only get an hour (honestly it is called an EZ for a reason save the money and read directions), if you need to file a 1040A with itemizations call ahead and tell the receptionist (a teenager) the details and hope it secures you enough time (which after 5 years I did not know was the protocol until today, which apparently is MY fault), or you can go to a professional tax accountant that schedules time for you because they do the job for you, with you, unrushed.
I gave 2 stars since I did have 5 years of good tax filing experience but I am genuinely saddened since I liked this place, but to throw 5 years of customer loyalty because of your bad scheduling and blaming the customer for it, that's petty and frankly, unprofessional.

Been coming to OC Financial Service for about 7 years to see Irene. She is very knowledgeable, professional and honest. She goes way above and beyond her expertise with amazing customer service. She really goes the extra mile to make sure things are done correctly and accurately. Highly recommend 10/10!
