Pertaining to the TV broadcast weather warnings: If someone is watching TV, there is no reason to cut out of the programmed TV to listen to a horrible sounding weather alert. Run the alert sounds that are annoying on purpose, then run a banner. People watching the TV will see the banner; TV by design is visual, the audience will see it. It’s run so often I’m to the point of shutting off the TV, often due to on demand channels freeze after the fifth or sixth warning in an hour, not to mention cell phone alarms going as well.

NWS at MKE/Sullivan provides a life saving service to Southern Wisconsin and portions of Northern Illinois. The warnings are very timely and accurate.
If you don't have a weather radio, consider purchasing one for your protection.
I have had a weather radio for many years and have come to rely on it not only for warnings, but for forcasts and weather statics, i.e. area temperature and conditions.
The meteorologists provide an invaluable service to the public.
