If you’re looking for a new tax preparer, please take into consideration the negative reviews before deciding Manny is the right one for you. Most, if not all of the negative reviews hold a lot of truth to it. For the first couple of years, it was great working with him and everything went well. It wasn’t until a huge and costly clerical mistake was made on their end, that I realized why those negative reviews existed. When we received the IRS notice, my parents talked to Manny about it and he had the audacity to blame my parents for it — telling them they had a mistake on their claims, which was why they ended up owing money. Definitely backs up the past negative reviews from others that he doesn’t know how to hold himself accountable after making a mistake. How can you be the tax professional and claim it was your client who made the mistake when all the paperwork is given to you to handle?

After further consultation with another tax preparer and even several phone calls with the IRS, both advised us that our tax preparer entered something incorrectly which resulted in the miscalculation. Because of this error, my parents ended up owing the IRS money, which was contrary to Manny telling my parents they actually received a refund. I scheduled a meeting with Manny to confront him about his mistake and to my surprise, he didn’t even show up to the meeting HE scheduled with me nor did his receptionist even know I was coming in for a meeting that day — screams unprofessional if you ask me. The sad part is, the receptionist told me I should just discard the notice because lots of their client actually received the same notice and that the IRS is just backlogged. That alone should tell you how much of a joke this place is. After consulting with his colleague, the receptionist realized they “forgot” to delete a line in the 1040 when they did my parents taxes and they actually did need to pay the IRS (right after he just told me to discard it lol).

Please please please, spare yourself the trouble that you have to go through because of their mistakes that they weren’t even willing to own up to. Take these negative reviews into consideration because I can guarantee you, it’s not worth the hassle. Pick a more competent and honest tax preparer.
