As a single-family household, I have been a client of Kayros Multiservices as my tax preparer, since 2021 I feel they are honest they follow the law of the IRS. They are friendly knowledgeable. They have a multitude of services available to you, and they are priced very reasonably. I feel better knowing that once I file my taxes, if anything goes wrong, they will be there to help me through it. I would recommend them for personal services, small business services, and any major corporation.

After doing my simple tax return online, as I do every year, I discovered that this year I was not obtaining a refund, but instead paying a substantial amount. I decided to go to Kayros to ask for some advice on my tax return and get information as to why I am paying this year. I assumed it was because I filled out my W-4 hiring form incorrectly, so I walked in with my partner asking for help filling our my W-4.

From the beginning, I made it clear that I was here only for help on my W-4 and not filing my tax return (as I had my online tax returning filing virtually ready for submission). When I asked for an estimate, the man at the front desk told me that I could not get an estimate until they review my forms. Although I was only here for help with my W-4, he had me fill out an appointment form and had me handover my W-2's as well. At the time, I agreed, because I assumed this was all information they needed for my W-4. So, I left my information with them, I never received an estimate, and we booked the appointment. Unfortunately, I was not given a confirmation email or text message following the booking of my appointment, so I arrived on the wrong date.

When I came in on the wrong date, I was approached by the woman who seems to run Kayros and she assured me that they were working on what I requested (my W-4) and that my appointment wasn't until next week. She was friendly, understanding, and even said that help on my W-4 would be free of charge!

I returned the following week for my appointment and waited 20 minutes before I finally sat down with the tax prepare who was very nice, friendly, and was able to answer all of my questions. I started to grow suspicious at this point, however, because I didn't think something as simple as a W-4 would take this long. It was not until I was shown my tax return and a hefty price of $260 for their services that I realized there was a huge misunderstanding.

I told the tax preparer, once again, that I never wanted my tax return filing and just needed help with my W-4. At this point, the tax preparer contacted her immediate supervisor (the woman from the previous week who I spoke with). I was hoping to get this miscommunication resolved as maturely as possible and knew that I would be heard because everyone had been so friendly to me thus far. I couldn't be more wrong.

The woman from the previous week who was so friendly before, quickly approached me and I was soon met with hostility, aggression, and gaslighting. There was no grain of understanding, empathy, or warmth from this person anymore. I was told that I was wrong from the beginning and that all of this was my mistake. Although, I tried to resolve this miscommunication with respect and maturity, the woman in charge at Kayros was only filled with condescension and unprofessionalism. After being left with no other option and no middle-ground, I accepted the amount because the work had already been completed at that point. I never received an apology. Then, when I went to pay the amount at the front desk, the clerk struggled to charge my card and ended up charging my card twice. I spent an extra 30 minutes at Kayros waiting for my card to be charged and to get the double charge resolved.

All this for a simple tax return (single; no dependents; W-2s) that I was going to file online for free.

Please avoid this place. I do not recommend this place at all. For the prices they charge, you would think that you would receive high quality services, but you will be met with disorganization, unprofessionalism, and long wait times. The tax preparer was excellent and she was just doing her job. The woman in charge, however, was unprofessional, hostile, and predatory and did not care about me as a customer. You're better off doing your taxes online or going elsewhere for tax services. No one should go through what I went through.

Do not let the other ratings fool you either. The 5 star ratings you see on their Google page are all from the 10% discount they offer customers for leaving a 5 star rating.
