Full disclosure, I have worked with Fidelity before, and not had issues. This time however, a form we were sent that gave instructions for how we were to receive the proceeds from our home sale, was filled out to indicate a wire transfer not a check, and given to Fidelity with our other closing documents. I questioned verbally how they were to get the information for wiring the proceeds because that was not on the form, and was told to include a deposit ticket for the routing and account numbers, which I did. When closing day came however, a check was somehow delivered to our bank account rather than a wire. This of course means the check has a hold rather than have access to our home sale funds. When I called to question why our instructions were not followed, the response seemed "deer in the headlights". Our written instructions were not followed, and the verbal conversation wasn't recalled. I never even in a million years thought to follow up, that what was written and stated verbally would actually happen. I don't get paid to do their job and so I didn't do it. But guess I should have. So beware that you will want to verify anything that is time sensitive like this, if you want to make sure your wishes are honored, so now our home selling process which as most know, can be stressful and dragged out, goes on another week longer until we actually get our home sale funds.
