Once to manage picking up individual health insurance (we are self-employed). I have been trying to negotiate Covered California and health insurance myself for two years now. I missed having a personal agent, which I had for 26 years in New Hampshire. The past month has been crazed with open enrollment and political upheaval. Every time I called Covered California something went wrong on their end. I went in and Karisa, the office administrator, greeted me with a warm smile. I asked if they could help me . . . turns out that Chris (Christopher Bozzuto) had to be my "agent". But she then offered to hear my story. She listened and then Chris entered the room and immediately joined the conversation. Big smiles, great handshake. Approachable personality. They helped me as much as they could. I felt an instant connection with these people and knew I was in good hands. I immediately went home, signed into Covered California, made Chris my agent, then returned to the office. From there Larisa brought up my file, looked at what was happening, explained why I was getting continual letters and emails that created confusion, and let me know I can relax and all is fine. Whew. They will connect with me periodically to make sure things are fine, do a mid-year review and so forth. I highly recommend working with Chris and Larisa rather than trying to deal with the folks on the phone with Covered California. Much clearer, much quicker, much easier. All the options are discussed, the pros and cons of all choices, and how they are applicable to us, here in the greater Sacramento area (which includes a large geographical area).
