We’ve been in the process of securing a building for the past two months.
We are 1st time business owners and we had been wanting to have the building by now, however it continues to be delayed. My husband and I have been waiting to hear back from one of the leasing agents and when they finally got back to us, they were asking if we would take a different building than the one we’re already interested in. The other building is much smaller, too small for what we’re looking to do and it’s in a corner where no one will see it.
Before this we were asked to pay rent for the full year upfront. And even though it’s not desirable, we agreed that we could accept that requirement.
During the phone conversation my husband was told that the owner didn’t think we would turnover a profit; but what difference would that make if we pay the rent upfront? Additionally, they misunderstood my bank statement and claimed we only had half of the money that’s actually in the bank the other half is in the savings portion. Then the leasing agent made the assumption that we don’t have any inventory, when the fact in the matter is, all of our inventory is in storage for now and luckily we had the 1st month free.
Honestly, we basically have been given the runaround and they have not been easy to work with. We feel they’re being shady with us and making too many demands.
