I started renting gear from CPLS about a year ago.
At the beginning Scott and Jo were super friendly and very professional.

Rented some speakers for 1 day rentals then later had a 2 month extended persons rental for the same that worked great.

At the end of September this year we arranged for a similar long term rental.
Nothing went as smoothly as it did previously. Rushed initial pickup for gear that was not complete.
We gave Scott our use dates and he put a rush on this for gear to be picked up immediately before he was leaving for a long vacation, even thought he retired before our first use date abs I was forced to come back up to his house to again swap out speakers.

This become par for the course during this “long term rental” so much so he double booked the gear we had reserved / paid for requiring me to drive up to his house to drop off / pick up gear almost event single time.
Then during this time he started voicing new rules.
At the inception of the use contract we gave Scott our use dates.

During the term of this contract we had been picking up gear the day before date on the contract.

Then for the last pickup everything changed and I was told pick up date was date on the contract.
Even though the week prior Scott started texting me for pick up 2 days before the date listed.

I was accused of stealing gear after a very rushed / stressful pick up from his wife - this during the corse of a 3 week use period.

Also during this time speakers were not configured properly , we were given stands that jammed on site and had to be repaired, nothing ran as cleanly and as stress free as it had previously.

I even took a moment to ask Jo Scotts wife of he was doing ok and that didn’t go over well.

Great company , quality service but I won’t be going back after he yelled at , lectured and having my time wasted multiple times when I brought this home based company business from several of my promoters.

The wedding I DJ'd would've been ruined if it wasn't for the expertise and patience of CPSL. They were extremely accommodating and patient with me on the introductory call and had a lot of great recommendations to make this event the best it could be. While I was at the event Scott took THREE calls from me and helped me while I was on site and helped me with technical difficulties. I know being someone new to renting and setting up my own equipment going to a place where I was just another number I would've ruined my friend's wedding. Everyone at the wedding loved the light and sound and if I ever play another wedding I won't go to anyone else but CPSL. Can't recommend them enough.

California Pro Sound and Light is a breath of fresh air in the event lighting rental world! I'm a professional lighting designer based in New York City; I visit Northern California once a year to design a musical theatrical production. This year we required a decent amount of truss for our rig. We reached out to a handful of companies (mostly larger rental houses); CPSL was the quickest response we received. Their quote was exceptionally comprehensive and easy to understand (many companies hide things by not itemizing). Scot, the owner, is incredibly attentive and helpful. As soon as we received his response, we knew CPSL was the company for us! Scot was happy to go back and forth with us via email to address our (many) questions and requests. When we arrived to pick up our equipment, not only had he meticulously prepared it all for us, but he also helped us load and tie down the gear, all with a smile on his face (and excellent conversation too)! And on the flip side, when we arrived to return the gear, Scot even backed our truck in for us (because we're scaredy cats)! The truss we rented was in perfect condition, significantly better than the truss I have received from other companies. The quality of the gear, the ease of communication, and the incredibly attentive Scot make CPSL the best little-rental-shop-that-could in the area. All I can say is that I wish we had Scot and CPSL here in NYC!

Wasn't sure if CPSL did small wedding events or not but I needed lighting for our last minute backyard micro wedding event and I am SO happy I found this business!!

Scot, the owner, was such an ease to work with. He was extremely responsive, professional, kept to his word.

Scot's consultation before I hired him entailed planning and designing the layout for my event. We rented boutique lights and had him set up uplights for walkways and under a gazebo. He gave me multiple options, broke down the logistics for me and gave me a proposal in a very timely manner.

Rented an A/V setup from Scot for a memorial service. Equipment is top notch. Scot walked me through the setup upon pickup so I could assemble it myself. He even jumped on Facetime when the projector was giving me fits. Would 100% recommend, and will be contacting again for our next event in the Folsom, EDH, Sacramento area!
