Selling your business you've built up over many years of hard work is both a scary and exciting idea. It had been just that for many years, an idea. It wasn't until we sat down with the team at California Business Advisors did we even consider it a reality. We had sat with many other brokers over the years, none of which felt organized or ready to stand in our corner and make it happen. After our first meeting with CBA, it was evident they were different! From that first meeting, throughout the ENTIRE process, they were in our corner. Their organization and communication made this event in our life as enjoyable as I could ever imagine it being. There was stress, as there always will be in this type of life changing event, but they helped manage it by always being available and being great with honest communication. They were in our corner. I had always imagined us being grilled and interviewed by potential buyers in the process, but it never occurred to me that we could interview the potential buyers to see if they'd be a good fit for our team (we wanted a buyer that would retain our team). The CBA team set up our potential buyer meetings so we could get to know the buyers - to get an idea if they would be a good leader for our team. This process might not be as important to other sellers, but to us, it was huge. There are many many things to show how CBA stood behind us, but I can capture a lot of those with one skill set that they have - they listen! They listen to your concerns. They listen to what you want to accomplish. And then they work with you to accomplish those goals. We are grateful to have been able to work with CBA. We sold our business and found a buyer who was a perfect fit. Thank you!

We recently completed the sale of our business after 13 years of hard work building it, and at the beginning of the process we met with the folks at California Business Advisors and were very impressed with their professionalism, experience, and the very thorough research that was done even before a contract discussion and potential costs were presented.

We were talked out of using CBA's services by several parties involved in the deal who felt money could be saved by using only our own lawyers and accountants to manage the deal. Now that we have completed the process, we really wish we had utilized their services. Instead of the sale process taking 2-3 months as it should have taken, it took over 9 months. The cost difference between DIY and the process being handled by experienced professionals is minimal and frankly, not worth it.

There were several occasions where poor communication from the buyer's lender and his lawyer caused costly delays and two times we were within a couple of days of closing (and all the payroll, HR, insurance, accounting and contract arrangements having been made) when we found out that the closing date had to be pushed back. We essentially had to repeat the sale process three times to get it done right.

This was extremely costly both in time and cash. The frustration with the process took a toll on all of us and was unnecessary.

Hindsight is 20/20 as they say, but if we were to do this over again, I would insist on using California Business Advisors to facilitate and manage the process.
