Any kind of services can be very helpful when you’re in a rough spot so it’s impossible to give a 1 star rating and some people here are nice and polite. But the majority of people here and the way this facility operates definitely deserves a 1star rating. Most of the people here are extremely impolite and rude with every interaction. I’ve never had a good experience here and it’s not just with me either. No one enjoys asking for help.. Try calling in and you’ll receive a 15 min wait time even though you’re only second in queue and then when it’s finally your turn, you get hung up on. Call back just to wait another 30 mins, just to get hung up on again. It’s extremely rare for me or my family to ever need assistance but anytime we do it’s always the same thing.

Laura Harrison, the supervisor, refuses to force her workers to do anything that they are supposed to do. I personally have called and E-mailed about 1 family several times over the course of 1 month. Within this 1 month time period, they set up a safety plan with the family, the same day found a fugitive unregistered sex offender being harbored in the house, and then after the house was still not cleaned at the end of the safety plans alotted time, they simply told the family to clean it again. Laura Harrison, Rebekah Bumgarner, and the Director of the NC child services whose name is Lisa Cauley, all need to be fired for dereliction of duty. We don't need another Zahra Baker incident. The Sheriff's are also aware of the situation and also refuse to do anything.

I have called, left a voicemail, and emailed the woman in charge of my child support case. She has emailed only twice asking me to call immediately and saying she just needs my information for the review yet she has sent me no documents or tried to call me herself. Apparently she has spoken to the other party member in this case though seeing as how he called me and interigated me today.

Starting to wonder if “how much can you be a jackass to someone “ is part of the job interview, cause that’s all they hire….. why is paper work always lost ? …. I turned in everything and almost 2 weeks later I get a paper saying I’m missing something . Like be forreal

Kim C who is my case worker for my child support case. She just hung up on me. I asked about how I could get my case overseen here in guilford county, which is in Greensboro North Carolina, where this case began because every time I contact these people in this Granite Falls location they’re very rude and make me feel like they’re very racist especially because I’m a father paying child support and they don’t even understand what actually happened in this matter they just judge me. They act like they are making money on the child support by being more aggressive then helpful to the fathers that are doing the best that they can.

The women handling my case is very rude and condescending. She was rude to me on the phone and then when I came in to give her some documents she was still rude up until I told her that she’s being nasty and needs to stop is when she decided to put on her nice voice. I do not understand why someone works around people and then treats said people like garbage. I hope you get fired because you do NOT need to be handling anyone’s case if you are going to talk like that to someone. ALSO I waited on the phone for 20 minutes and then they hung up the phone and when I went to go call back, which before that I was the next person to be helped the phone coincidentally hung up on me and now I’m in the 5th place again. This place is a joke, hire better people.

Just an FYI:
Most people assume that employees at DSS are social workers, as I once did. That's not the case. A degree is required & once they become a LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) they can get better positions that pay a lot more money than what's usually offered as a general intake worker or other, less skilled positions there.

Older Update
There has been a box added just as you go in the door in which paperwork (such as completed applications, recerts, etc) can be deposited. This is very helpful.

People are made to stand in a line & wait to be called to a window for someone to find out why they are there. That includes the elderly, pregnant, & physically handicapped/disabled, etc. The time spend standing in line is usually quite long. I spent 45 minutes in the line JUST TO DROP OFF A PAPER. This caused me to be in a lot of pain that, once triggered, lasted for 3 days & kept me from basic functioning until it subsided. I even told an obviously ill, handicapped man to sit & we (others in line) would keep his place in cue for him. Also offered the same to a woman about my age (60) that appeared to be in pain & was having difficulty standing. There are people who are not able to stand for extended periods or, for various other reasons, don't seek the assistance they're eligible to recieve, because of this UNFAIR inconvienance. I know I can't put myself in that position again. I think it is discriminatory. The Dept of Social Services should know better & CAN do better. A better system in lobby needs to be implemented.
