Rick is absolutely incredible.
While many services these days involve someone coming out and simply checking off a checklist to get to the end of the job, Rick and A Healthier Home are an unbelievable breath of fresh air.
Rick came out and spent hours going over the house, learning its history, answering questions, and most importantly thinking critically.
Having mold in your home is a scary place to be and the relief that my wife and I had knowing we had Rick in our corner was truly invaluable. I cannot express enough how much his support has meant to us through this unsettling journey.

Rick absolutely knows his stuff and was very helpful. My 3 star rating is because of the lack of pricing transparency.

Rick came out to my home and spent two hours walking me through everything. He made helpful suggestions and answered any and all questions thoroughly. I was surprised when he said that his service normally costs $997. I expressed that it seemed steep for two hours of time, even 4 hours with a generous commute. We settled on $697 which is more acceptable but still seems a lot for my basic situation. He explained that the cost includes ongoing phone support, which I'd rather just pay for as needed.

We had suspected something in our home was making us sick. Both my daughter and I had mysterious chronic health issues that couldn’t be explained. Bridget came out and did an inspection of our home and found mold in our HVAC (specifically the air handler). I would have never thought to look there! There was absolutely no signs of mold anywhere else, no smells or growth inside the home, but it was clearly enough to keep us sick. I’m so thankful that Bridget found it! She gave us several recommendations and helped us through the process of remediating. I was able to email her with any questions we had and she was always quick to respond and help us. I would definitely recommend A Healthier Home and would trust them to do a thorough job!

Do not hesitate to hire Rick at a Healthier Home to inspect your home--you'll be so glad that you did! As first time home buyers, my husband and I have had a hard time learning the process, knowing the right questions to ask, and who to turn to for honest advice. After a home inspection report turned up some "fungus" that needed further inspection, we did a little online research and found Rick. Rick spent hours inspecting the house with us and answering all of our questions and giving us advice. He gave us a list of items we could do ourselves and what repairs we should discuss with the sellers. I never felt like he was withholding anything or not telling us the whole truth. He is honest, hard working, and incredibly knowledgeable with years of practical experience.

Rick talked about the house with us for 4 hours! We now feel educated and less intimidated about home buying and home ownership. He encouraged us to send him questions any time and to keep in touch in the future. I can't say enough good things about Rick Bayless and Healthier Home. Even if you don't have specific mold issues, I'd highly recommend hiring him to inspect your home so that you have a clear and honest view of the house you're purchasing or already purchased. We will be contacting him again for future home projects and inspections--he is well worth the modest fee and we are so grateful to him!

This is by far the best investment I have made in my home.

Rick Bayless is an amazing inspector. Not only is he certified in many fields, but he has practical experience that makes all the difference. One of the reasons why I picked Rick is because he only does inspections. He does not do actual repairs. This is wonderful because I know he is free of any bias or interest in discovering expensive issues.

Rick started out by asking us what our concerns and issues were. We initially wanted him to inspect for mold that was causing health problems. That was just one of the many things Rick did for us. Rick did a complete top to bottom inspection of the house. He looked for problems with energy efficiency, health issues, comfort issues, etc. He not only identified problems, but sat down and explained the best and least expensive way to address each issue on our own whenever possible. He told us what we need to do and offered to help guide us on any projects we might have to undertake in order to improve the quality of our house. He also prepared a full report with pictures so we could identify each issue.

After the inspection Rick has continued to provide insight and advice on how to tackle each issue that was found. Most of the repairs would’ve cost us a lot of money if we had outside contractors do it, but Rick told us how to easily do these things ourselves. He has checked up on us several times and has provided great assistance in getting some of the items we needed, but were unsure how to procure.

Rick has been nothing but helpful and his service far exceeds the modest price we were charged. I will be sure to have him inspect any new home we may ever have or even to assist with any major remodeling of the house. I will be recommending him to all of my friends. If I could offer one piece of advice for any homeowner, potential buyer, or even someone looking to have work done on their house it would be to first call Rick and have him do an inspection. You would be amazed at the things he would be able to tell you that other inspectors would not even care about. For the modest price he charges, you would be a fool to spend full dollar before having him look your home over. Remember he does not do any actual repairs or work with referrals so you know you are getting an unbiased inspection. The only bias he has is to help you live in the best environment possible.

Rick gave us invaluable information on how to address a leak situation in a much more cost-effective manner than excavating the foundation, which another company recommended. His common sense recommendations worked great, and cost a fraction of what we were being quoted. Wish I'd had him do the initial inspection of the house, he is very thorough and detail-oriented. His reasonable fee saved us thousands of dollars and a lot of time.
