Great location in Wasilla. The drive-through is it pretty fast but I prefer going into the lobby. Because the staff here are fast, friendly, knowledgeable, and patient. I Have come in to do a quick transaction and I’ve also come in and sat down with a teller talking about my options I’m always happy with the services that I get I love the hours and that there’s locations all over Alaska.

Disappointed with Premature Account Closure and negligence from employee at Global Credit Union

After careful consideration, I feel compelled to share my recent experience with Global Credit Union. For years, I've been a loyal customer, diligently managing my secured credit card account. However, recent events have left me deeply disappointed.

Following multiple hacking incidents, I reached out to Global Credit Union with the intention of settling the remaining balance on my credit card and closing it down once the remaining balance was paid in full. Despite my explicit instructions to visit the branch in person to close the account and clear the balance, a representative prematurely closed the account over the phone without my consent or knowledge.

I then went into a branch and requested they audit the phone calls I’ve made because I never authorized my card to be closed down. I was told to speak to a manager and then handed off to the call line to be told they will talk to someone in a higher position to call me back…it’s been 3 MONTHS and multiple office visit/phone calls later to still have no one reach out with a way to solve this issue besides the first response of “open another credit card with us” which is not a viable option

This premature closure not only resulted in the loss of accumulated ScoreCard reward points I’ve collected over the span of 10 years but also had a detrimental impact on my credit score. The closure was processed with a balance remaining on the card, inaccurately portraying my credit management and negatively affecting my creditworthiness.

Despite my efforts to rectify the situation and maintain good standing, the lack of communication and resolution from Global Credit Union has been disappointing. As a result, I am left with the frustration of dealing with the repercussions of their actions.

If Global Credit Union feels compelled to respond, I kindly request that a manager contacts me personally. Please refrain from directing me to the call center, as I have already made numerous attempts to resolve this issue without success. Thank you.

It’s been mostly good. They’re usually willing to offer good rates for loans. My only complaints would be their insistence on calling me Mary instead of my name, which is Maryjane and them shutting off my Bill pay when I was a victim of fraud. Sometimes, the incorrect name causes problems when I try to use my Visa debit card. All in all, I haven’t had any other problems over decades of business with Alaska USA.

If you are a business owner I would recommend going with another bank. Their policies and online features are not suited for a business that deals with a large quantity of transactions.
-Daily limit on debit card is 10k so if you are doing transactions above that amount you will have to call a number and wait one hour an average before they increase the limit, which is temporary and you have to repeat the process when you need to go above that limit next time.
-if your card gets flagged for suspicious there is not text, call, email or any form of contact, your card will just be disabled without notice and again hours on hold and on the phone by the time it’s figured out.
-when you deposit large quantity of checks if you don’t let them know (sometimes even if you do request it) they will group it into one transaction and make it difficult to do your bookkeeping
-they will charge you a fee if you are withdrawing over 10k in cash
-online features are lacking behind their competitors and seems like most issues that are usually resolved online or in app for others turns into wasted time being on hold
-one star instead of zero is because their staff is almost always helpful when you go in their branch and will do their best to help you out.
- will be switching to a different bank but will leave the business account open in case they decide to update their policies to suit business’s better

Always a pleasant experience when using my credit union. Was not keen on the name change as I’ve been a military (retired) member since 1994. But, things are what they are. Great credit union.

I love global credit union so easy to work with every employee I've came in contact with has been very nice and helpful the online banking app is easy to use.

Not like the big banks, in the way they treat you. Personalized, helpful and respectful. They don't treat you like they could care less if your a member, like some other banks that shall remain unnamed! Very competitive rates and very helpful getting any type of loan. Willing to help out first timers and help them build credit. I absolutely wouldn't bank anywhere else. I've had family members switch from Big name Banks to this credit union, and they love it.
