A week after writing this initial review, Sabu has threatened us with legal action if I do not remove my post. Funny that he wasn't able to respond after we called out his poor practice filing our taxes, and was nowhere to be heard from for two years following his promise to remedy the situation. Yet with one bad review he can jump right into legal defense mode. After first accusing us of causing the problem in his response, he is now again trying to force his own narrative of the events by attempting to force me to remove my review. Being that nothing I have said here is a lie, and that he did in fact file a standard deduction when we had sent over home buying, child, and small business write off info I can't really see a grounds for a lawsuit here so he is welcome to up the ante at which point this complaint will be escalating to both the California Board of Accountancy as well as the IRS given the gravity of both the position he put us in, his lack of accountability in the matter, and subsequent attempt to threaten us into stifling our voices.

OK so I have been bothered by this business for some time after a extremely stressful and negative experience with them, but the fact that years after being left hanging by Sabu after he misfiled and lost us as customers and yet STILL sends like 3-4 spam emails in a row every few months. His constant spam emails remind me of predatory sales tactics and just constantly remind me I need to write a review to just get this out there. First off we used Sabu for several years, including through an extremely difficult year in which we purchased a home had a second child and went through many life changes. Every time we felt disregarded by his unprofessional tone and behavior but since he was cheap and we were already working with him and his team, we blindly continued as we were so occupied with other things. The reason you hire someone, to offload some of that stress, in this case it lead to massive amounts of worse and much more difficult events, because he failed to include our deductions, the IRS initially calculated a much higher tax bill than we actually owed. Turns out that year we had so many life events, when we went back and reviewed his work, he or his team had filed the laziest most turbo tax return for us, not including the home purchase, new child and any other deductions we had clearly listed out for him resulting in a massive tax bill that was far over what we actually owed. We had for some reason at the time not questioned his returns as we assumed a professional would have done a better job. When confronted with it he stated something to the effect of: "if my fault I will stand by my practice and work to fix the issue" then ghosted us promptly thereafter never to follow up in any way except to spam us every tax season with his generic form emails asking us to upload our documents over and over and for some reason he sends like 3-4 of these in a row each time which only further highlights his ignorance and incompetence as the least professional accountant I personally have ever encountered. We ended up having to go back and file an amended return ourselves and do not only a new return but review and study the process to amended a return filed by him since he was the one who should have filed the amended return and we could not access his portal to do it as we had not only not had it remedied by him but he outright never responded again. Essentially Sabu made a somewhat difficult tax return take four times the effort that just doing the returns ourselves would have taken. No accountability, I am shocked he is still able to practice when I scroll down all these other negative reviews. If only I would have heeded the advice of past clients he burned but unfortunately we were focused on other things at the time.
