While traveling from Santa Rosa to Sonoma, we took the scenic route and decided to stop at this gorgeous estate along the way. We were the first to arrive at 10:30 a.m. and, while initially judged for our early timing, we explained that we were on East Coast time, which earned us a pass. We were walk-ins without reservations.

It took a little time for the staff to warm up to us, but once they did, they were friendly and accommodating. It was an average wine tasting, served at the bar, with a mini lesson on the region’s microclimates and how they influenced the wines. Overall, it’s a pleasant stop if you’re in the area and looking to enjoy beautiful surroundings and a bit of wine education.

This was such a fun stop!!! Kunde is only one of a few vineyards that have a wine cave and it’s so incredible to see! We were lucky enough to catch the 11am tour and are so glad we did. Wade led the tour and walking through those caves was a bucket list item for sure The $25 tasting was well worth it as we got to try a variety of their wines and have Wade there to explain the flavors.
The grounds are gorgeous without feeling gimmicky or pretentious. As a new wine drinker I felt comfortable asking questions as I was learning.
If you only choose one winery to visit, you wouldn’t be disappointed with this one!!

We go here for our yearly team Wine Tasting and always have a wonderful experience. Lisa took care of us just like last year and she goes above and beyond as usual as well as Dana and Naomi.
But Marcia’s lack of presence at the winery very much shows as she always stop by our table and chats with us. Miss her warmth presence but the staff is amazing as always and great wines despite us not being able to reorder our cases for work.

Kunde is such a special and beautiful winery! My husband and I just visited last weekend to celebrate 10 years together and did the Kunde on the Mountaintop experience. This was hands down my favorite winery experience I've had in my 4 trips to the Napa/Sonoma areas. I really didn't want it to end!

The "Kunde on the Mountaintop" experience began with a splash of rose upon checking in. We then got poured a lovely Sauvignon Blanc as we got a tour of the caves and the winery grounds. We then got a taste of Chardonnay as we got in the Kunde van and made our way up to the mountaintop. Once up there, we had a tasting of truly amazing red wines while enjoying a breathtaking view of Kunde's vineyards and Sonoma valley. It was really cool to see the vineyards up close especially basically taking a drive through them. We passed the spot where people can get married (including Seth Rogen in 2011!) and the boxing ring that was used in the Bottle Shock film. In fact, we learned that a lot of the movie was filmed at Kunde, which of course, we came home and rewatched it and remembered so much of what we had seen on our drive and during our visit!

Our tour guide, Sean, was absolutely phenomenal. We ended up basically being on a private tour by chance, so we got the extra time to ask questions and learn about Kunde, Sonoma valley and its AVAs and wine knowledge in general. He helped us pair our charcuterie with the wines he presented us. I fell in love with Kunde's Cab Franc with brie cheese so much so that I had to buy a bottle to bring home with me! We appreciated all of the conversation we had with Sean and the time he took to ensure we had a fantastic celebration and experience on the mountaintop.

In case anyone is wondering, yes there are bathrooms located in the mountaintop area, so do not worry (LOL)! After about an hour on the mountaintop, we made our way back to the main property. We got to sit in a private room and finish up our tasting. We really could have spent way more time at Kunde and been perfectly content. We walked around the property a bit and took pictures by their stunning pond. The fall foliage definitely added to the beauty of Kunde this visit.

We have been guests at Kunde before during my 30th birthday in 2022 when we were a large group. The amazing customer service we received then was matched and exceeded this time around, which I didn't think was possible. This winery is definitely one you cannot miss, regardless of the experience you choose!

Good Morning,

I wanted to take a moment to share an experience my husband and I had at Kunde Winery last Sunday. We were celebrating our anniversary weekend in Sonoma at my brother’s home and had planned a couple of wine tastings throughout the weekend. I had invited our son and daughter-in-law to join us, and later, two of our friends asked if they could join as well. This brought our group to six for tastings at Shady Brook and Whitehall on Saturday, and Kunde on Sunday.

When we arrived at Kunde a little early, we were kindly set up on the patio. There were about five or six tables outside, and our server seemed a bit rushed, as she was attending to multiple tables. At times, we had to wait for service, but we understood it was a busy day.

Our friends, who own a vineyard in Volcano, purchased seven bottles of wine after our tasting. When I inquired about their tasting fees being waived, the server informed us that only four tastings could be comped, so our friends would still be charged. While we respect your policy, we were surprised by this limitation, especially considering the purchase made.

After discussing our experience on the way home, my husband and I have decided to cancel our Kunde Wine Club membership. We appreciate the wines and past experiences we’ve had, but this visit did not meet our expectations.

Please confirm that our wine club membership has been cancelled.
I have emailed the wine club membership 3 times and not once has anyone responded. very poor communication,

Beautiful property, very friendly and knowledgeable staff (Lisa and Ryan took great care of us), and delicious wines. We tasted a purchased the 2021 Century Vine Zinfandel Reserve and 2109 Moon Mountain.
We highly recommend adding this winery to your list of tasting when you’re in town.

Such a great place to spend an afternoon. Our wine tasting session went perfect with Roger. The wines were really good and he gave us the wine’s background with great detail and passion. We bought a lot of bottles to go!

The winery is also really cute with a beautiful pond right by the main area. Overall highly recommend.

We did the Kunde Mountain Top Tour & Tasting in mid October. It also included walking through their very impressive wine caves to riding in a very comfortable van to the top of the mountain. At the top, we were surprised to find out the opening scene of Bottle Shock was filmed there. The views are spectacular and the wine tasting takes place at the highest point overlooking the expansive vineyards. Just breathtaking! The wines were awesome. It was difficult to decide which ones to take home! We hesitated doing this tour due to price but in the end it was one of our favorite spots in Sonoma and worth every penny!
